Alicia Jessup – Dance Director, Instructor Competition Team & Recreational Dance
Alicia is a Gananoque native who began dancing at the age of 6 with Debbie’s Dance Academy and then with Dreams in Motion. She is a graduate of the University of Ottawa Theatre program and St Lawrence College’s Marketing program. While in school Alicia choreographed several musicals, Turning Points the movie, and founded SLC Dance Fusion. She began teaching at Dreams in Motion in 2011; she teaches in Lyrical, Contemporary, Jazz, Hip Hop and Musical Theatre styles. Alicia is certified through the Canadian Dance Teacher’s Association for Associate Jazz. A big fan of giving back to the community, Alicia has been representing Dreams in Motion for the past 3 years at Dancing Stars of Leeds Grenville. Katrina Burns – Competition Team & Recreational Dance
Katrina has always had a strong passion for dance and theatre. Since the age of 4 she could be found whirling and twirling around the dance studio. She has over 15 years training in disciplines such as ballet, jazz, lyrical,contemporary, tap and modern, and has been instructing and assisting such disciplines for over 10 years. Katrina is a Registered Early Childhood Educator and is currently working towards her graduate certificate in Autism and Behavioural Sciences. She believes dance to be a great tool and outlet for all children, young and old, and is very about passionate about spreading her love of dance to the next generations.
Jennifer Butchart – Competition Team
Jennifer co-founded Dreams In Motion in 2004 with her dance instructor Debbie Donaldson. Jennifer has taught various dance styles and Kindermusik to students of all ages but has worked solely with Dreams Competition Team since 2012. Though her love is ballet you will frequently see her “busting a move” backstage at competition with her students. Her son Jared has followed in his mom’s footsteps and is a member of the Dreams Competition Team and her husband Tim has even taken up tap – competing with Jared in 2016. Jennifer works for Queen’s University in the Athletics & Recreation Department helping student-athletes full-fill their dreams and is currently pursuing her Bachelors of English Literature

Katelyn Wallis – Recreational Dance
Katelyn is going on her 14th year dancing here at Dreams in Motion. When she was 11, she was asked to join the competitive team and has competed in many competitions bringing back many medals and ribbons for the last 5 years. She has taken many styles of dance such as ballet, jazz, contemporary, hip hop, modern, pointe, musical theatre, tap, ballroom and highland. She has achieved up to grade 4 in her ballet exams, and was accepted into LEAP, an art school in Kingston. Katie also auditioned and received a role in Ballet Jorgen’s Nutcracker. Katie is very excited for this year and hopes everyone enjoys their time at Dreams in Motion as much as she does.
Abbey Spence – Recreational Dance
Starting out taking Creative Motion at Dreams at age 5, Abbey Spence has kept dance an important aspect of her life. She has been a member of Dreams In Motion’s competitive team for the past 6 years, working from intermediate to senior. Additionally she has taken various classes in different styles, traveled to dance conventions, and passed all dance exams at a highly commended standard. In 2014, Abbey was awarded with one of our first Solo Scholarships for her outstanding commitment in the classroom and enthusiasm and contribution to her team. As she continues to grow as a dancer, she is thrilled to begin sharing her passion and experience with others! Abbey’s love for dance has advanced as she has discovered it as an emotional escape- making lyrical, contemporary and pointe her focus point styles. Abbey is entering into her final academic year at GISS, and is planning for university in the coming year.
Alexandria Hornbeck – Recreational Dance
Alex started dance in grade 4 and has kept dance as a huge daily part of her life. She has been on the Dreams In Motion competitive team for the past 6 years and now currently taking recreational classes. Throughout the 8 years she has been dancing, she has done various classes in many different styles. Alex has also passed all ballet dance exams at highly commended standard. She has traveled to many places for different dance conventions, and many competitions. Alex was also lucky enough to travel to Disney World in Florida with other students from Dreams In Motion to perform and be apart of their “Dance the World” parade. Over the past 8 years Alex has found herself connecting more into emotional kinds of dance like ballet, pointe, contemporary, and lyrical. From dance she has grown into an independent,confident young woman. She has always had the love and patience for young children and can’t wait to share her knowledge and love of dance with younger students. Alex is entering grade 11 at Regiopolis-Notre Dame and hopes to continue to be an honour roll student to reach her end goal of university after grade 12.
